Eurovix bioactivators are used to restore, optimize and accelerate the processes of aquatic ecosystem self-purification (nitrogen and phosphorus cycles), stabilization and mineralization of organic matter in the sediment.

It is often considered a B.A.T. (best available technology) because it is the only one that can be applied in complex (flowing waters) or very large environments (large seas, lakes, and lagoons) at low cost and without creating impact on the site and nearby areas.

To be applied, it requires no special facilities, uses little energy, and does not interfere with the normal activities established at the site (fishing, boating, sports activities, etc.); in fish farms, the use of bioactivators in the tank improves livestock performance and, upon discharge, minimizes environmental impact.

On extensive farms, the ponds are large and human intervention is limited to hydraulic water management. Over the years, both organic matter and nutrients accumulate in the sediment, generating eutrophication phenomena that cause anoxia and decrease production capacity.

Like large watersheds, biological technology is the only one that can be applied cost-effectively and allows for increased productivity without compromising the ecosystem.


High numbers of animals are concentrated in small spaces, water must be oxygenated and changed frequently, and fish are typically fed industrial feeds. Stress on the animals is very high, as is the frequency of disease.

The use of Eurovix bioactivators improves water conditions, reduces stress factors, contributing to animal welfare, and increases livestock performance. As a result, the need to use oxygen and energy for water replacement is reduced: economic savings are evident from the first few months of treatment.


In R.A.S. farms, usually indoors, water is continuously recycled and filtered through high-efficiency biological filters, so water consumption is reduced.

The R.A.S. system is very complex to manage and requires a high degree of professionalism from the operators who work to maintain stable chemical-physical and microbiological characteristics of the recirculated water.

Systematic use of Eurovix bioactivators helps management operations by reducing organic matter accumulation, accelerating the kinetics of nitrogen compounds in biofilters, and lowering the stress level of animals. This translates into appreciable economic benefits due to increased machine efficiency, energy savings and improved quality of recirculated water.

Floating cages are considered the future of marine aquaculture, along with closed loops.

When placed far from the coast on deep bottoms they use good quality water, but are subject to weather events and are difficult to manage. When placed below the coast, the cages are more protected and can be better managed and guarded; however, they generally do not enjoy favorable environmental conditions (shallow seabed, poor water circulation) and self-pollution phenomena reduce productive capacity.

The use of Eurovix bioactivators in cages placed in unfavorable environments (with poor internal circulation) increases zootechnical performance by reducing ammonia concentration and fish stress. Bioactivators sown on the bottom under the cages reduce organic matter that settles over time and creates degenerative phenomena in the sediment (bottom anoxia, development of toxic gases).


Sportfishing lakes are precarious ecosystems because they are destabilized by continuous inputs of bait and fish that are not always of good quality. The fishing action and continuous catch and release cause stress to the fish themselves.

Good water quality management ensures optimal fishing capacity of the lake. The accumulation of organic matter on the bottom due to the systematic use of pasture or natural causes (leaves) produces chronic or acute degenerative phenomena, such as lack of oxygen in the water column, growth of algae and macrophytes, and development of toxic gases.

Fish, already stressed by the fishing action, become sick more frequently and often die. The use of chemicals buffers the problem in the short term, does not solve its root causes, and often generates side effects that are no less harmful.

In contrast, the use of Eurovix bioactivators improves water and sediment quality, promotes animal welfare, increases oxygen availability, and increases fishing capacity.


Biological technology can also be used in streams with high flow rates, using special techniques for bioactivator delivery.

The ecosystem will see appreciable improvements even in short periods of time especially in periods of low water flow, where water stagnation and odor formation occur. Results are particularly visible in channels with discontinuous flow rates, in urban environments, and in tourist areas.

All watersheds, large or small, man-made or natural, deep or shallow, fed or stagnant, suffer from eutrophication and sediment degeneration phenomena; chronic, acute, generalized problems or in limited areas.

The only applicable technology is biological, because it does not require impactful structures and is economically competitive with any other technology (chemical, sediment removal, forced oxygenation, etc.). Bioactivators can also be applied, again with high efficiency, in small, unbounded areas of a large basin or for short periods (for the duration of acute pollution events).


Large amounts of polluted sediment accumulate in harbors, which, if it does not have to be removed for navigation purposes, can be treated in situ with biological technology in order to stabilize organic matter and decompose biodegradable elements.

In port areas we also find polluted water from improperly purified civil discharges, small amounts of hydrocarbons produced by boats or gas stations, dead algae accumulating in corners or rising to the surface; all cases compatible with the use of biological technology.

The environmental impact of dredging operations can also be mitigated through Eurovix bioactivators administered during the work. In fact, the use of bioactivators in ports does not interfere with the normal activities that take place there.


In eight thousand kilometers of coastline in Italy, the areas subjected to bathing controls cover more than five thousand kilometers: of these, more than two hundred kilometers are not swimmable.

The causes that compromise the bathing parameters are mainly due to the discharge of untreated or imperfectly purified civil sewage into the sea through canals and rivers.

The administration of Eurovix bioactivators, immediately downstream of the source of pollution (inefficient sewage treatment plants, by-passes, illegal discharges), brings microbiological parameters back to the values required for bathing authorization without creating environmental problems for the ecosystem and settled fauna, nor health problems for the population frequenting the area.


There are basically two problems associated with the management of water for irrigation: chemical and microbiological characteristics, which are essential for use in edible crops; and eutrophication phenomena that reduce the efficiency of irrigation circuits starting with canals, moving on to filters (when they are used) and ending with sprinklers.

The more extensive the irrigation network (Reclamation Consortia) or the more technological (fertigation, drip, precision, etc.), the more eutrophication phenomena (algae and macrophyte growth) compromise the efficiency of the systems, increase operating costs, and reduce nominal water flows.

The use of chemicals, very often, is not compatible with irrigated crops. Pushed filtration technologies are expensive and difficult to manage, while biological technology is the simplest, least invasive and cheapest solution to apply.


Spillways and by-passes are structures that save sewage treatment plants and sewer systems from excess water during periods of heavy atmospheric rainfall, releasing untreated effluent directly into the receiving water body.

Very often, if the hydrodynamic conditions do not favor its dilution and dispersion, the effluent stagnates in the inlet area compromising water quality (e.g., bathing parameters).

With appropriate bioactivator-based technologies, the drained effluent can be treated to reduce its environmental impact on the downstream ecosystem.
