The AIR-BREAK project, funded by the European Urban Innovative Actions program, aims to reduce air pollution in the city of Ferrara by 25 percent, with a focus on fine particulate matter (PM).
Actions under the project include:
-
Raising public awareness and information on air pollution issues;
-
Experimentation with innovative models to encourage sustainable commuting and soft mobility;
-
Adoption of Nature-Based and Smart Solutions to decrease pollutants in the air.
The nature-based solution is related to the use of a specific Eurovix bioactivator with chelating action, capable of promoting the biofixation of PM particles, preventing their subsequent re-suspension in the atmosphere. In addition, the microbial-enzymatic component of the product is capable of degrading polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons present in particulate matter.
The bioactivator is easy to use and safe: it poses no risk to human health, animals or the environment, in compliance with European legislation (EU REACH and CLP Regulations).
