The AIR-BREAK project is funded on the European Urban Innovative Actions fund aims to reduce air pollution by 25 percent in the city of Ferrara related particularly to fine particulate matter. The project’s actions and activities will lead to increase citizens’ knowledge about air pollution, present innovative models to encourage clean commuting and soft mobility, and finally Nature Based and Smart Solutions to reduce air pollutants. The Nature based solution is related to the use of a Eurovix bioactivator with chelating action that leads to the biofixation of PM preventing its re-suspension in the atmosphere. The microbial-enzymatic component is capable of degrading polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons present in particulate matter. The bioactivator in addition to being easy to use is not hazardous to human health, animal nor are they hazardous to the environment, according to European legislation (EU Reg REACH and CLP).
